EXCELLENCE IN EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION

Wee Care Center is a One-Star Step Up to Quality Award Center.  The Award from Ohio Department of Job and Family Services - Bureau of Child Care and Development is given in recognition of Wee Care's excellent child care program and ongoing commitment to children.  The state agency is responsible for licensing and promoting high standards among Ohio's child care programs.

Wee Care prides itself in providing a higher standard of care that exceeds Ohio's licensing standards.

OUR PRE-SCHOOL AND PRE- K PROGRAMS

(Pre-school - ages 2 1/2 through 4)

(Pre-K - ages 4 through 6)

Pre-school and Pre-K curriculum is included in full or partial day care.  Each pre-school classroom including our Pre-K 1 and Pre-K 2 classes has two full-time teachers, and child-teacher ratios are kept below state requirements.  Our curriculum is the Creative Curriculum, which is aligned with the Ohio Department of Education's Early Learning Standards. Daily activities are planned around child interest themes and centers and include circle time, art, music, gross motor, free play, rest time and meals.  All children must be toilet trained.

PRE-K 2

Children 5 years of age who are not enrolled in Kindergarten

This program is intended for children who were eligible to attend kindergarten and whose parents have chosen to delay starting school by a year.  This allows for extra school readiness instruction and growth.  Children can also be eligible for this class if they celebrate their 5th birthday by Dec. 31st.

Pre-K Language Enrichment

Created as a way to better prepare children for school, this unique program gives our 4- & 5-year-old children small group time with a teacher to practice pre-reading and speech development skills.  The teacher is able to observe children closely and assess individual strengths and weaknesses in these areas.

SCHOOL-AGED:

K-KIDS and THE HIGH FIVE CLUB

Children enrolled in Kindergarten through 3rd grade

K-Kids are children who are enrolled in Kindergarten and spend the remainer of the day or week at Wee Care.  They are combined with children in our Pre-K program (see above) and review Kindergarten-level material related to our weekly themes. High Five Club students are first- through third-graders who come to Wee Care before and after school.  During their time at the Center, they engage in science, art, and computer activities and have time for homework and free choice play.

Activities and field trips are also planned during school breaks and most other days when school is not in session.
